Danish Historical Fiction Author Sigrid Brockenhuus Announces New Print-Only Novel, The Girl Time Erased
Oct 22, 2026
Set in 10th-century Brittany, this standalone historical novel follows a young woman’s ruthless fight for survival against Norse invaders, released exclusively in print to preserve the heavy, tactile reality of the era.
Kobenhavns Kommune, Denmark Oct 21, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - The Girl Time Erased strips away chivalric romance to expose the raw, bleeding edge of the 10th century. The story follows eighteen-year-old Herannuen, a girl raised in the isolated Breton bocage and trained in the anatomical, clinical precision of combat by her scarred father. When a scavenging band of Norse raiders breaches the tree line and massacres him in the mud, Herannuen does not flee. She takes up his heavy broadsword and executes her attackers with a cold, terrifying efficiency that leaves veteran soldiers in awe.
Sworn into the fractured Breton resistance by a towering knight named Renart, she embarks on a desperate shadow war to reclaim her homeland one bloody acre at a time. From catastrophic avalanches in freezing mountain passes to suffocating, close-quarters slaughter in the burning streets of Nantes, the narrative focuses heavily on the mechanics of leverage, shattered bone, and the crushing exhaustion of survival.
In an era dominated by digital reading, Brockenhuus takes a definitive and unyielding stand against e-books. The Girl Time Erased is entirely unavailable in digital formats.
"This is a story of freezing mud, severed sinews, and the crushing weight of heavy iron," Lady Brockenhuus states regarding her print-only publishing philosophy. "Digital screens completely sanitize the reading experience. I detest e-books because they lack the physical permanence and tangible weight required to truly anchor a reader in this era. This is a story that demands to be held in the hands, just as these characters must hold the line in the mud."
The Girl Time Erased is available now through major print distributors and independent bookstores.
